Pathfinder Polo Shirts

New official* Australian Pathfinder uniform option: polo shirt in unisex cut.

CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL CLUB’S  LEADERSHIP IF THIS UNIFORM IS BEING ADOPTED, BEFORE PURCHASING!

*This official alternative pathfinder club uniform was introduced for Australian Pathfindering and approved by the AUC Pathfinder Advisory for all conferences who wish to adopt it. The old traditional uniform IS NOT being phased out and is recommended that a club stay with the traditional Pathfinder uniform where possible, but either the traditional or the polo version are acceptable in all Australian conferences for clubs who choose to adopt them according to their needs.

Designed as a more economical and practical official dress uniform option for clubs.

The Pathfinder World and Triangle patches come as part of the shirt and other patches and pins are placed on a sash (sold separately) - meaning removal of the sash (and scarf - also sold separately) turns it effectively into a field uniform instantly. This also allows for easier washing AND growing (less need to transfer all the patches if changing a shirt size) and allows a Pathfinder to have more than one shirt.

SIZE ADVICE: select one size up from what you'd usually wear, or two sizes up to be doubly sure (and grow into it).

Here are the official options for using the two Pathfinder uniforms in Australia:

  1. A club can stay with the traditional uniform and be on parade and march.
  2. A club can use the new polo uniform option and be on parade and march.
  3. If a club decides to use both the traditional and new uniform option within the same club, it needs to march in formation with the traditional uniform first and the new uniform second.
  4. The 2 uniforms can never be mixed and matched on the same person.
  5. Both the new and old shirts must be accompanied with a sash, scarf and conference choice of hat. No change from the traditional uniform with these items.
  6. The polo shirt must be worn with black trousers (not track pants or action wear).  We would recommend that a club pick a particular style and stay with that as much as possible (e.g. Kmart’s black pants).
  7. The polo shirt and pants must be accompanied by black lace up shoes (or the child’s black school shoes).  Black runners are not recommended.

Great new option for Pathfinder uniforms. Makes it much more affordable for families, and the kids like the lightweight feel, especially in hot weather.
Our club has bought a stock of them, and kids borrow them for the day for formal events - keeps them clean and in good condition.
As a general rule, we go "one size up" for the kid's sizing.

Love this more affordable option. Kids can go through about 2-3 uniforms in their Pathfinder lifetime due to growth and unfortunately there is no cheaper option due to colours and style...until now. This uniform is fresher, easier to travel with, cost effective and no more sewing patches on shirts. Yes , traditional looks nicer, if you can afford it, but remember...it's not about the uniform but the mission of bringing kids to Christ!

The sizing is very misleading. Maybe the website could have some fit guidance? (EDIT: now added)
The quality is very low. Wear for parade only and then take them off!! The threads pull really easily and they seem to discolour.
The only benefit is they halve the cost of the initial uniform purchase. I'm not sure they are really going to be super cost effective for the life of a uniform though, especially if your club has a good uniform pool to tap into as kids grow.
Having to add conference patch, club badge, class badge, investiture pins and chevrons on the sash uses a lot of valuable sash realestate, especially for short people

I personally think that the old uniform is WAY better than the polo shirt. However, if Clubs are to go with these, I think that they need revising and have epaulettes for the slides and sash on them. But as a cost effective uniform they may be fine, but being old-school, I do not think that you can beat the look of a group of Pathfinder kids all dressed in a full dress uniform on parade or as part of the Club.

A great, cost-effective and practical alternative uniform options for Pathfinders - it is easy to match the uniforms within the club, and fantastic for travel, hot weather, and washing/wearing. We have some grateful Pathfinders in our club!

I think the old uniforms look much better (this new design is ugly in my opinion). Giving boys a white shirt for an outdoors Pathfinders club may not be a good idea - and could get dirty very quick. I like the old uniform much better and think kids would be more proud to wear it. And I question why make girls and boys look and dress the same?

The shirts are a great idea! They need some tweaking however. The Sashes slide off the shoulder without the Epaulets! There also needs to be some way of showing senior PF status without epaulets- as that was always an achievement!

Cost effective for a starting club
