- In one sense, I Will Go . . . To My Family looks like the devotional books that many of us grew up with—a reading for every day of the year, with a featured Bible verse and a short story or reflection. But there is much that is unique about this book project, bringing together stories and contributors from across the Pacific as a resource for families to grow together in their faith.
A project initiated and coordinated by the Trans Pacific Union Mission under the leadership of Pastor Maveni Kaufononga, I Will Go . . . To My Family is part of their five-year “I Will Go” strategic plan. The plan includes the recognition that our discipleship and disciple-making should begin at home—and that family worship is a key to this. Many of these readings are stories focused on mission as played out in the personal lives of the contributors, as well as testimonies to the presence of God in the face of life’s challenges and griefs.
I Will Go . . . To My Family has an attractive island style, with full-colour design throughout. For those who have grown up in the Pacific, this devotional book offers a taste of home. For those of us in Australia and New Zealand, this is a glimpse of the faith and lives of members of our church family across the nations of the Pacific. As well as its many personal testimonies, this book is also a collective testimony to the growth and maturity of Adventist Church in the Pacific. Sharing it with the rest of the South Pacific Division could help our regional church family grow closer together as well.
The readings are dated from January 1 to December 31, and arranged by monthly themes, but this book can be picked up and read any day of the year, in any sequence you choose and whenever you begin. As such, I Will Go . . . To My Family is a devotional resource that brings the most benefit when shared in your family, however you choose to read it.
