“What you can’t see can hurt you” is the lead line of “The Invisible Man.” Based on H.G. Wells’ 1897 classic novel, this Hollywood sci-fi thriller revolves around an evil scientist who discovers the secret of invisibility and torments his ex-girlfriend. No one can see him, yet he’s deadly.

It’s the same with COVID-19 and other viruses. They’re invisible. And they can kill.

How do we protect ourselves from a threat we can’t see? “Wash your hands, cover your mouth if you cough, disinfect surfaces and practice social distancing,” urges the Australian Government’s Department of Health. This is sound advice, yet infections may still occur. So, in addition, what should be our top strategy?
